Dish Network vs Direct TV - Part 2 - Dish Network HD
Dish Network and HDTV – A Perfect Match
I’ve been a fan of Dish Network for quite some time, so when I began hearing more and more talk about HDTV, I started paying attention. To be truthful, it took a while before I actually believed that HDTV was anything more than just sales talk. Just another ad campaign to part me from my hard earned dollars. Maybe you still believe that.
My ‘a-ha’ moment came when I did my own side-by-side comparison. I went to a store where TVs were on display and asked to see one with HD and one without, both airing the same show so I could compare. It was amazing and I was converted instantly. I knew I had to have high def.
But the next thing I did, which was quite frankly just as important, was to compare the services I was going use to get that HD signal. Click here to see the site I found most hopeful when comparing Dish Network vs Direct TV for HD.
So I did a little research and learned you only need three components to start enjoying a whole different world of TV viewing:
- You must have a TV capable of reading the high definition signals. They’re different from regular standard definition and your TV has to be either HD ready or at the very least, HD enabled.
- You’ll need a source of high definition programming, which is where Dish Network comes in. Over 75 channels of the most jaw-dropping details you’ve ever seen on a TV screen.
- The last component is an HD receiver and Dish Network has you covered there as well. Not only do they offer one with a built-in DVR, but you can choose their deluxe version which has even more recording capability and can be used for two TVs simultaneously.
Dish Network has thoughtfully divided their HD packages so that almost everyone can start enjoying enhanced TV viewing. The Bronze level packages start at under $30 and all levels include at least 25 HD Channels. The receiver with the built-in DVR allows you to pause, fast forward, rewind and record live TV in high definition.
This means a greater viewing area; instead of a small square image on the screen, HDTV programs are more rectangular in shape, which means you actually get to see more of the picture. The colors are more intense, deeper and richer; images are sharper and more clearly detailed. In fact, CNET.com rated Dish Network’s HD-DVR as ‘better than TIVO.’ Given TIVO’s popularity, that’s a pretty strong statement to make.
But the icing on the cake has to be great specials that Dish Network continues to offer its subscribers. It doesn’t matter if you’re a brand new first time subscriber or a well established customer wanting to upgrade, if you want HDTV, Dish Network can offer you a way to get it.
If you still believe that it’s all just sales talk, that’s okay, I was there once, too. But if you want undeniable proof that HDTV is like nothing you’ve ever seen before, you have to see it in person. Words simply don’t come close to doing it justice. Watch the two next to each other, high def on one TV, standard definition on the other. I’m betting you’ll have an ‘a-ha’ moment just like I did.
